GENESIS AT A GLANCE

Dr. James K. Smith is a native of the Pittsburgh area, attended West Virginia University undergraduate and medical schools, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  He then completed both a General Surgery residency and a Plastic Surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh, including a year of research focused on reconstruction following breast cancer surgery.  He accepted a clinical faculty teaching appointment position upon completion of his residency and has been practicing his craft in the Greater Pittsburgh area since 1989.

Not only a certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Smith is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Ivy Society (Pennsylvania State Plastic Surgery Society) and numerous other surgical and medical organizations.  His award winning clinical and basic science work has been presented at local, regional and national conferences and he continues to offer educational presentations to a number of organizations.

As Director of Genesis Cosmetic Surgery and Day Spa, Dr. Smith has combined an innovative blend of surgical and medical therapies with relaxing and therapeutic skin and body treatments.  Always pursuing safe, new and improved treatments for his patients, Dr. Smith was one of the first plastic surgeons in the country to marry the preoperative and postoperative spa-type therapies of medical and aesthetic skin care and massage therapy with his cosmetic surgery practice as an adjuvant spa experience.  The diverse menu of facials, therapeutic and relaxing massage and body treatments broadens the spectrum of The Genesis Experience beginning with preoperative preparation and extending through the surgical procedure and postoperative care, all under the direction of Dr. Smith.
